Shell's freaking scary human cardboard character

You might have seen this in gas station or pyramid. And if you see it at night you might frightened by it. It look too real and if you hit him you might thought you have hit a real person. These dummy has been quite popular around here and somehow I think, it might better if he is some kind of animal, a tiger, penguin cute character, cos human is way too scary.

Why do we need to Fear?

In life and in school, there is one thing that constantly educate us but we never aware, which is leaning to FEAR. How do we learn fear in school? Very simple, many teachers practice domination and power so that students can obey to their rules, and school uses punishment so that student can learn to fear them. When we graduated, the strong friendship that we left behind were mostly because we all had gone through fears together.

In corporate world, we fear of our boss because we worried of no pay raise, we learn to praise him and accommodate the CEO's instruction all because of fear. We avoid doing more because we fear for more possible failures. We do more also because we fear that the boss does not see our contribution.

The corporate CEO also have fears, he fear for people complain about his company in facebook, we fear that people does not happy for his service. Some CEO will make big effort just to cure 3 complaints among millions of customer because he fear that the impression will immerge to a bigger issue. We research for satisfaction because we fear that the impression is immense inside the client's mind.

Unhealthy politics also educate fear, its all the battle between fear, the leader fear of loosing their power and the citizens fear to voice up their comments.

Fear is a factor that stop humanity from growing. It is very common in social networks where you visit a new site and have no knowledge about it, and you fear that you post something that people might treat it as a stupid question. You fear that everyone will see your comments and aware about it, but in fact there is nothing wrong with it. You fear that you will be banned from that site, you fear that people will have a different impression about you.

For people that manages the social media, he also fear that things that comments he post will invite negative thoughts, he fear that his business will be affected if he address a true comment about something he felt. He fear that the picture or views does not have enough "likes", he fear that people might see him being inconsistant when he change his views in life, he fear that replying a friendly email can be unprofessional and professional email can be not friendly. Fear has a great play in expressing a true idea or true image of that person. The world turns unreal if fear dominates us. All we see is just a surface of good things that people want us to see.

Fear is a major element that may turn a photography session a bad one. It is not about the photographer, it is in fact the fear that the individual learn to express when the photographer had ask them to be real. It is hard to find a genuine person but it is harder to find a fearless person. Those negative element, which is fear itself, is a basis from a long time exposure to fear education. Fear education is something we do not want to see. And it is so hard to make people forget about thier fears.

There are indeed a cure to fear, which is trust. Trust is the one and only cure to fear. When we trust someone, we can be real to him. But in life it is hard to find someone we can trust 100%. Therefore, in order to cure the impurities, I learn to trust a person 100% before he able to. And I learn to be brave, to be a positive person, to be optimistic. I do not care what kind of impression I get for what I post in facebook or any negative impression I get for my business, as long as I am truthful to myself and I am who I am. I do this because I know that everyone wanted to be treat this way, which is someone he hope to meet in his life. I will be that person, because I do not want to be part of the FEAR group.

For those people working in corporate world, I hope you understand that the corporate world is indeed something the true society doesn'y want to have, corporate world is a society that made us turn into a different person, a person that we do not intent to be. In real life I am sure that you want to be a true person but corporate world had made you practice politics and reserved person, all because of you fear of loosing your job. Please take note that there are ways to cure them and your job is not the only thing in your life because if you are sick and suffer in major sickness, your company will not give you any symphathy and only your family will. If you continue to practice fear in corporate world you are not being very contributive to the society because you failed to address the major vision of mankind, which is the things that you feel like making the world a better place or things that serve a higher interest instead of your own interest. When you reply a corporate email please do think that nothing is permanent and the world doesn't need to function this way, it all can be done in a personal manner and you can still be a true person in office. It all comes back on how courage are you and how you want your every minute spent in the office.

To the photographers that operate their own business you might already know that the major fear in malaysia photography is all about sharing your ideas and do take note that if you continue to fear about what picture you share, the world will never grow in this way and it will indeed stop you for taking more facinating pictures because you will keep snapping the same art work for numerous number of times. If you having the fear of people stealing your pictures in turn you will never learn to create better art work that surpasses your previous art works. Do also take note that if you fear of being dictated or regress to let people know about your real life and ideas, your life will turn to a very secretive one and you will suffer from loosing your own self because you will not have a facebook account that you feel comfortable with. There is nothing wrong with sharing, or showing your true self, there is nothing wrong to go for your own vacation or drinking a glass of beer without having your pictures delivered. Your client will understand. In fact they will like to see the true part of you.

All rounded photographer... @.@...

Well at first I thought with the books I have read in the past like philosophy and psychology, and with the helps from corporate experience I can handle my task every well as a photographer but well, I still need to learn, and kept on learning hahah.... a week ago met up with my insurance lady and plan for my financials, then discuss about some investment plans, then this week I have been poured by lots of IT offers which I had to spent my sweet time studying them in order to improve my efficiency. Someone told me that I'm truly amazing lol...

Ok here is the facts of life, psychology for photography engagement, philosophy for theme creation, sociology for marketing, history for developing personalize theme, IT for my online efficiency, finance for retirement plan, corporate finance for my investment ROI so that my couples get cheaper deals, have to work out regularly in order to function well, fashion for giving my couples a true and honest idea about what they wear, sales so that my customer can buy my idea, service minded so that to cure their fears, leadership so that people will follow your idea, marketing so that people will see benefits, PR so that to keep our session enjoying, and furthermore I have to accumulate life in order to grow. And for all these to be done, is just in order for me to function as a photographer, to take picture for them, and does not count the time I will be using to edit the pictures. hehehe.... thats an exciting life. :D

2009 Youth Engagement Summit - Here I come!

Since AirAsia is sponsoring, sure why not! Here I come. Feeling excited about this Youth Engagement Summit, something different than normal work and photography but I think this is something inspiring as well. To keep my motivated and to keep up with the most recent trend. Getting old is fine, but not with an old brain. :) Looking forward to this, hopefully not something very surface. This event reminds me of one of the most influencing summit that I have ever watched, which is the United States Competitiveness Summit happened just before the Obama's Administration.

The need for Technology - Fully Automated System

One day when I was retrieving my email, I saw this message from our CEO which made me happy and sad.

"In these challenging economic times, the way we do business has to evolve and follow the changing times. With the advent of technology and inseparability of the influence of technology over businesses, we need to equip ourselves with first the infrastructure and next, the mindset. Times have changed from those days where technology is a tool for the business. Now, to ensure that the company is ahead of its competitors, we need to be very innovative and to use technology to achieve this. It is no longer a tool and the department has to be very commercial and business driven to ensure company leverages on technology effectively. In line with these rapid demands on us and what we need to become, Information Technology has to evolve from just a supporting role to a more comprehensive outlook with a more defined role in the business environment we are in. With that, I am pleased to now announce that Information Technology will now be known as Innovation, Commercial and Technology (ICT). This department has to evolve in order to sustain the needs of the business. No longer can AirAsia be confined by the conventional operational functions of Information Technology. This is a challenge not only to the newly named, Innovation, Commercial and Technology department but also to the entire group of the challenges that are awaiting us ahead. This is more than just a name change, this is a challenge to all to support this new endeavour and initiative in order for us to move ahead as one.

We need to incorporate more technological advancement and innovation in what we do in our day to day basis and make this among the core competencies for each department to embrace and utilize in getting us to where we want to be."

I remember 2 years ago when I was an engineer, I have highlighted the urgency for technology to implement fully automated IT system to the organization, we have tried very hard that time and the campaign failed due to lack of support and lack of integration within departments.
The dream was to create a strategy for mass growing fleet which can potentially caused communication breakdown due to manpower constraints because it will be a totally different ball game once we reached fleet of more than 60 aircraft and there are 225 aircraft in order. A good example for fully automated system is Cathay Pacific where they integrate Ultramain and other IT systems to create fully functional data communications to remove the "middleman" for transferring data from one system to another. And I know that Singapore Airlines have been trying very hard to learn the infrastructure from Cathay Pacific.
Imagine how many head counts can be reduced if we work towards the possibility to transfer passenger information from flight booking down to check in, and down to the pilot that calculate weight information during pre-flight, and combining passenger and flight information, data can be transferred automatically to the Engineering IT infrastructure and Flight Operations and costing automatically transferred to Finance for cost measurement and passenger load data transferred automatically to the revenue department. This will be the future ahead for AirAsia and I think we need to continue pursuing our dream. Thanks for the encouraging note, I hope we are not too late.

Am I ready?

It is funny to see that question when the celebration has been postponed. Well, I was ready and I think I need to be ready for the great news again. Thats all I can say. Our cultural team have posted many red messages around the office with the question "WHO ARE YOU". I was excited that this message was posted and so I quickly grabbed a pen and wrote something on the message "I'm also confused". That's an honest answer.

Food - AirAsia Academy vs AirAsia Lounge

You know it is hard for us to find good food in LCCT, all we have are fast foods, malay food and recently an expensive Old Town White Coffee. We AirAsians received a RM5 meal credit everyday for buying meals in our AirAsia lounge. You won't miss anything for not able to eat in our lounge, its all Malay foods. You can find same pieces of chicken cooked in red, dark red, light red, brown and dark brown and sometimes black, they are all cooked from the same piece of chicken! How I wish they can serve some Hainanese Chicken Rice here.
Today was my first visit after we had our own canteen in the AirAsia acedamy and look at this picture. With RM 4.90 you can get a big sandwitch served with salad and french fries! It made me envious for people that worked here. Furthermore, you can get to see some nice looking Cabin Crew trainees walking around with a nice smile. Tony named that canteen "Radome" (the name of the aircraft's nose), funny. Nice and friendly people with great music to accompany you, what can one ask for more.

Lim Guan Eng opening the window for Malaysian

A crappy picture I took with my crappy E71 camera. This is the only smoking area inside LCCT hidden in a secret location LOL. Well if you look closely on the newspaper that was supporting the window, it has Lim Guan Eng's name appeared in manderine. Haha what a meaningful metaphores. Yes I know he is supporting the nation pretty well, opening up the window for Malaysia.

Waiting for something extraordinary, we are still far away from the real stuff!

Well, thanks for the offer but it was not great enough. When I received this offer from AirAsia I thought of something great that might benefit all Malaysians. A credit card for the Rakyat!

Imagine if someone offers a card that can cover all medical expenses, hospitalization, insurance coverage for death and disability, that would cover what is most Malaysians worried about. No one pays for premiums anymore, its all being absorbed by the bank via credit card usage. How nice this could be where the nations can stimulate growth from mass expenditures and also offers coverage for their lives. This remains as my dream.

Enjoying Portraiture @ Delicious

It is fun to make people smile, to make people enjoyed being shoot. The first few series of pictures we taken was rather stiff but after a while, she was able to relax and I know from that moment I have taken control of her mood. That's personality! She asked me how to pos herself, I said what she need was just imagine about the feeling of happiness, joy, think about the precious moment of her life. And there you go, a true smile, and some pure expressions.

Back to School

A very special day for me, after 10+ years since my last visit to my high school, I have decided to take a day off and visit this old home of mine. I was surprised to see so many familiar faces and was greet by many teachers. Then I was invited to share my views and describe what I am doing in AirAsia to two science classes. Well, for an outspoken me, of course I do not have enough time to fully describe myself LOL. Well, I felt rejuvenated and cleansed from the reality after meeting so many pure and naive faces; so many hopes, so many dreams I saw in their eyes. This is a totally different world. :p

Questions Regarding The New Cabinet in Malaysia - April 2009

One evening when I flipped open the Friday newspaper and I began scanning through our new Malaysia cabinet. To be honest, I am not a politician, and not belong to any political party, and also do not recognize most of the names in the list, but I felt very angry about it.
1. Most of them are belong to BN and most of them have lost in the previous election. Why some people from small parties in Sarawak are able to be ministers? Why there are no oppositions in the ministers list? This is so unfair.
2. I was surprised that those people that have lost in the previous election are able to be part of the Jabatan Perdana Menteri. This is so unfair to the people.
3. The Minister of Finance is the Prime Minister himself and all of his members does not hold a degree in Finance. There are people major in Economics and Law but what kind of finance skills they have?
4. The guy that did Finance in college went to be the Minister of Defense.
5. The guy that was major in English was selected to be part of the Homeland Security.
6. The guy that holds a Phd. in Traffic Engineering was selected as the deputy minister of Education. He should be under the minister of transport man!
7. All the people in the Higher Education were graduated from UM. Hey, I have no hopes that our higher education will be improved if we kept on maintaining the people from our old system.
8. There are no lawyers selected in the Minister of Housing and Local Government list, no wonder so many stuffs happened underground.
9. I do not think that our plantation technology will ever be improved to the next level if we have guy who runs with a certificate of construction material estimator in there.
10. Hey, you know what? The guy that holds are degree in plantation is under the department of International Trade!
11. And why there is a Doctor selected for the Minister of Tourism? Well, certainly her counterpart that holds an MBA will not help either. LOL.
12. Sad to see that the guy that selected for the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation has a degree in Plantation Economics. I am sure that our poor streamyx connection rate will never be improved.
13. I cannot imagine a group of guys with Economics, MBA, and Law can ever contribute to Youth and Sports, and I hate that minister because he's fake.
I have hoped that one day we can have a leader similar to Obama. He tells the right thing, he selects the right people. He united both Democrates and Republicants in his cabinet. Why can't we do the same? I am not a politic major but maybe someone can tell me why we still using people from BN?
