A Moment of Salad Days

Have lots of laughter shooting Khor's family portrait. All together 6 people in the family. Reason i felt that this is a unique family portrait because we had our portrait session in Musse Boutique in Bangsar. We have not met each other before but when we meet we all began to laugh because they are so funny. Because of the baby girl, everyone began to act like a small kid trying to make this cute little girl to smile, thats why I called this series "A Moment of Salad Day", where adult became a small kid. LOL.

To Lachumi with Love

Had a wonderful and touching moment to witness Madam Lachumi's 65 year old birthday surprise. Thanks to Shamini, Lachumi's daughter for believing in my works and engage my photography services. I bet everyone is envious to see such a nice mommy they have. Something that made me think, about my family and values. It made me realize that I need to spend more time with my family and cherish the values we have. Lachumi is a very good example and everyone in the party is not afraid of sharing about their emotions and love. This is a great event indeed. Love the hug they had, to be honest, I initiated them to kiss their mom, but I think it worked out great, creating memories.

Memoirs of Azure

Spent 2 days in Sabah shooting Raymond and Zy Shing's pre-wedding. The environment was normal but this couple is awesome. They are so connected that I spent about 80% of the time taking candid shots, which is also something they prefer. We had spent hrs discussing about this wedding assignment and we finally did it. I guess this series is truly represents the couple's heart. Pictures are normal but time spent to decide on a location is tedious on my side, not only need to reflect Raymond and Zy Shing's dream but also need to understand their tiny bits of elements that connects them. Sunset is the most critical part because this is when Raymond proposed to her, during a nice sunset, and Zy Shing being the follower of Raymond's idealism, I guess these pictures really reflect the summation of the heart within Zy Shing. Filled with hope and joy from Zy Shing, and filled with manly protection from Raymond. I really like the Memoirs of Azure. And finally I get to shoot something under the rain, which is something unable to plan for sure. Thanks to both of you, both of you have also reflected my vision as a photographer.

1st Workshop Completed - The Natural Element by Dennis Yap Photography

It was a great experience for me be able to have my first photography workshop. I guess I have achieved what I wanted from this workshop, which is to inspire new photographers to focus on their heart and forget about their gears. This is a whole new concept which is rarely find in photograph industry. I guess many topics that had been discussed were not available in even photography schools. However, I believe this will be the trend for future photographers to pick on. In the workshop we discussed about the most basic photography techniques and asked to master these techniques in able to forget about their gears and focus to their heart. Also we discussed about the 10 most critical element to reflect their heart in photography. And ended by giving a direction to the new photographers for what kind of photographers they want to be and how can they expand their mind in the future. The Natural Element has made it first move and next workshop "The Spirit of Emotions" had just been launched right after the first one.

I am amazed by these fellow participants that posted their pictures and began to share their work. Most happy of all is they have been inspired to move further in their photography, maybe to enhance their hobby or even excel in their photography business in the future. Who knows, but the most important is, they get my message which I want to express.

Thanks to Michelle and Tomoko in Senyum magazine who support me all the way. Thanks to Yoko from Musse boutique who will be supporting me all the way on my future workshops. Thanks to Mandy and LC for modeling for us. Thanks to Kelvin the founder of Visual Art Studio for his videography. Thanks to Kevin Tan for his support and capturing these nice pictures during the workshop. Thank you very much. I mean it! We will move on and be strong, we will continue to have fun for sure!

Our Home

Found a new inspiration today after witnessed some incidence happened in life. Ying Chao and June had known each other for 14 years. Sometimes time is not the main factor, the important is the feeling to have a home when we in love. Their expression had told me that feeling of contentment, we have a home finally, its that simple. Very excited to shoot the first day of their reception where they have their morning session in Tenggiri. Very nice place in need. Hope to visit there some other time.

Tale of Innocence

Its an honor to have the chance to shoot Grace Wang, NTV7 broadcaster. I knew Grace long time ago from her days in NTV7.  This is the first time we met after numerous arrangements. Before this portrait, Grace have taken several shots for commercial use in NTV7 but I felt that something missing from those shots and therefore we made this shot to really express her emotions. It is tough to capture Grace's natural emotions and everytime she knew that the camera is pointing at her, she lost all the natural look, I understand this is tough for her and so we made the session differently. And finally, this is what we get from it. I really love this series. To me, it is a great achievement. While driving in the car, I managed to grasp what is in her heart and what are her actual feelings in life, it is hard to know her as some people are very hard to open their heart. Well, I know this will not stop me from knowing her and with my sincerity, I guess I am able to capture her true self. Thanks Grace. I guess she realized that the portrait session is only a fraction of the work, the real work lies on the sharing process which made these pictures something that express her.

Great to be 1

Its great to be one year old. Last year we shot clement baby portrait for his full moon party, a year later its his 1 year old birthday party. Time is fast, it made me realized that it has been 1 year already. Well, its great to be 1 year old. 1 is a unique number. There will be only a year where we will be No. 1 haha... Emily, Clement's mom made a very special party for clement, where she decorated her house like a disney land and invited clowns, painters, and all his friends to share the joy of Clement. We all can feel the joy, but for Clement, he will know maybe few years later. For this series, this is what I plan to do, to make something memorable for Clement to see, few years later.

The Natural Element Photography Workshop

Thanks to the great support from many friends, finally I have decided to launch my own photography workshop. I was thrilled to receive so many positive feedbacks from many friends, they all were very encouraging. We have looked into what sort of theme we want to create for this very first workshop. We figured that there are many workshops that spoke about photo editing and photography techniques but never have any workshop that spoke about applying the organic element to create an intriguing picture, which made many people greatly depend on good gears and discouraged for having poor gears. The main subject for this workshop is to show fellow newbies and amertures to forget their gears is to master the subject. I am really excited, as this is what I have been struggling to express in many occasions. This time I plan to do it in smaller size.

It was an amazing moment, I never thought that I am able to invite such a number of people to support this workshop. Folks, I have realized that whenever you think of something, just try to take action to achieve it. This is a good experience.

Thanks to Senyum magazine who support all the way to sponsor an article for this workshop; thanks to Musse boutique who sponsored their dresses for the models; thanks to Visual Art Studio who will be sponsoring their videography; thanks to Jasmine who will be sponsoring her makeup; thanks to Mandy and LC who will be modeling for us; and thanks to all that will be participating. A big THANK YOU to you ALL!!
