The Natural Element Basic Photography Workshop by Dennis Yap Photography

Thanks for the great support and successful workshops in the past, due to several requests, I've decided to launch "The Natural Element" the second time. I was thrilled to receive so many positive feedbacks in the past from many friends, they all were very encouraging. We have looked into what sort of theme we want to create for the 3rd workshop and decided to use childrens as the main theme for this time.

As usual, we figured that there are many workshops that spoke about photo editing and photography techniques but hardly found workshop that spoke about applying the organic element to create an intriguing picture, which made many people greatly depend on good gears and discouraged for having poor gears. Like the first workshop, the main motto for this workshop is to show fellow newbies and amertures to forget their gears to master the subject. As this is what I have been struggling to express in many occasions, I have so much to offer from this basic class. We plan to have maximum of 10 participants this time so that everyone gets the attention.

Thanks to Senyum magazine who support all the way to sponsor an article for this workshop; thanks to Musse boutique who sponsored the candies and props; thanks to Tadika GCC for supporting us by sending a few hyperactive children for our photography assignments; and thanks to all that will be participating. A big THANK YOU to you ALL!!

A Journey of Unification - Foo Shen & Joan ROM

Really love ROM assignments, especially able to witness both people began their journey for a new life. Will be shooting their actual day this coming December. Before I met Joan I thought that she is a quiet girl but I found that she is really an outspoken one. She can talk anything and laugh about it and she talks really fast. LOL. There are more to be discovered from this couple. I am certain that their actual day will be filled with laughter and joy. One of the funniest thing is all their friends are Canon users including Foo Shen himself. It is nice to see so many DSLR users nowadays, you can easily see at least few DSLR users in any assignments, which is good in a way that I know that more people will be able to appreciate my art; and people will be easier to understand my photography. I couldn't wait to cover their actual day. During the ROM, most of the girls dressed in pink, this is just the beginning I guess. I guess something unique will be coming up soon during their actual day. Cheers Foo Shen & Joan~ lets do something special~

Secret Attractions - Chun & Joeyb Pre-Wedding

Chun and Joeyb flew all the way from Hong Kong just to have a pre-wedding session with me. I am so thrilled with their support for my photography. Me and Joeyb had a very long discussion on how to make this pre-wedding shoot an awesome one. What I know is Chun knew Joeyb in the airport and that time was during SARS and Joeyb was folded with her mask, but it didn't stop Chun from knowing Joeyb. It must be something that attracts Chun's eye that made him had the confidence to approach Joeyb. Then I figured that we could simulate the same situation by metaphor it with this pre-wedding assignment. That is how I got this shot, Joeyb was folded with the veil and sealed with the kiss from Chun, a love that was came from the same attractions. I confident that they will remember this series for a long time and it serve something to remember for many years to come.

Love Indestructable - Samuel & Lovvy Pre-Wedding

Samuel and Lovvy is a couple that is always separated, Samuel works in the oil and gas industry all the way in Brunei and Lovvy lives in beauiful Kota Kinabalu. Whenver they met each other, their love began to pour with passion, just to express the longing for each other. Lovvy is a funny girl, she is filled with joy and beauty. Lovvy is a sentimental person that will miss her love while her bf is away. Since ever Samuel and Lovvy had engaged me, Lovvy and I had became very good friend. And for the stories I heard from her, I figured that love is something powerful and believable. Regardless of what kind of factors in life and any environmental issues, it will never separate them from longing for each other. That is why I made this theme for them, to the Tip of Borneo, in order to express that kind of love from Lovvy. Just happened that there is a partial thunderstorm from behind the scene, it really matches the theme. It metaphors that life are the combination of both happiness and sadness, regardless of what kind of factors, their love will forever be together unaffected by anything. Tip of Borneo is Lovvy's hometown, I guess it served plenty thing for her to remember as well. I really love this series due to fact that it really expresses the whole concept that I have been trying to create for them.

The Spirit Of Emotions Photography Workshop by Dennis Yap Photography

Education of expressing human spirit in an emotions is a very rare subject and is rarely being spoken by photographers. The main reason for creating this workshop is to acknowledge the wonderful journey for learning how to express a subjects true emotion, emotions that truly relate to the subject; its not only taking pictures with emotions or moments, but also embedding a spiritual element in the photograph. This this the most modern education in photography even though it has been known for a very long time, just the fact that it might be hard to educate it. Now is the time for you to take the initiative to be part of the 2nd Dennis Yap Photography Workshop. Come join the fun and make friends, you will truly meet a group of wonderful people that might follow your journey in photography. 8th of August 2010 will mark a new beginning of your photography journey, you will feel that you have found a new vision in photography, and of course, you will be part of the roadmap in introducing a different trend in photography today.

I will also be sharing some of my journey for becoming a full time photographer, and also welcome to people who believe in my work and would like to build a vision together.

Two Delightful Souls - Navin & Shuba Pre-Wedding

Spent a nice sunny morning shooting Navin & Shuba, both people met each other and became two wonderful companions. Their love is simple and wonderful. Like every other couple they do have their ups and downs as well as arguments but they always laugh at the end of it all. They love to make fun of each other and enjoy the time they spend with each other. Both souls tend to share their difficulties and happiness in life and through this they slowly developed a deep bond that keeps them close and moving at the same time. They share their support and love through understanding and giving in and their love is simply delightful. Navin and Suba didn’t want fantastic pictures which doesn’t reflect them or who they are in person; they simply wanted something simple and nice to remember to mark their engagement as well as their relationship with each other. Thus, I created a theme that is somewhat colorful and simple to express their delightful personalities. I did not pose them but allowed them to express their love naturally and just captured every candid moment they expressed during that day. This is what I believe is true emotional expressions, something that is reflected deep from within their heart and soul. After the assignment they were simply amazed as they really enjoyed the whole process and did not feel exhausted at all. I guess that they really enjoyed their day off for this :).

A Rainbow Smile :)

The moment I took this picture of James (the little boy who followed us around during the shots in Edinburgh) I felt of achieving a few things. I love this picture so much, little James were so cute!!! haha... this is a small little present I brought back from my trip, for one of my best friend that love rainbow and little kids. Why I love it so much because it is a combination of this 2 subject she likes. LOL.... Cheers~
