Hao & Ching Wedding Day in Kota Kinabalu

Everyone going to get married some day and Chun Hao and Ching are one of my good friend that I met few years ago during a wedding assignment in Kota Kinabalu, they were still a very young team of energetic people that does mainly wedding videography mostly in Kota Kinabalu. Now they are one of the famous videography team in Sabah and Sarawak, if you have heard the name D-Capture Studio you must be familiar with Hao or Keat (his brother). In some ways my photos presented during the wedding ceremony had caught their eyes and said that I do capture many moments that were not noticed by them and to them they felt my pictures are natural, candid and heart warming. I did not know that my photos had given such a strong impression for them and some people in Kota Kinabalu. Over time, for some reason my assignment in Kota Kinabalu kept coming in and always bumped into them and had worked with them in couple of assignments and we did had a wonderful time together, KK people are just great, I had almost wanted to move to this beautiful cozy place, or even venture into this territory.

When Chun Hao contact me if I am available to capture their wedding day I was thrilled and felt the honour to be asked from someone in the industry. Though I did not have the chance to cover their pre-wedding, it was another memorable moment for everyone during this special day. Though I was hoping that Chun Hao stay out of focus on his actions and his video team performance during the day and able to fully enjoy this special moment, seeing him concerning about video shots has led me a little worry about his beautiful memories, but after all, the day ended with lots of fun. After the wedding day, we had a awesome day trip to Bunga Raya Island Resort. Thanks Hao and everyone for the good friendship, it is not easy to bum into friends like this, and it is not common to have several tea time session in a day if I am in Kuala Lumpur, only in Kota Kinabalu can find such relaxing moment purely mingling with friends. It is still my hope to be able to shift my focus to this beautiful place some day, maybe another branch studio or something, that remains as my hope.

10월6일 - Kok Hoo & 혜지 결혼식날

축하합니다 Hye Ji and Kok Hoo for this special day, when I first met up with this couple during a wedding fair this bride really caught my attention, she is very open to what she want and really hope that I can offer her something for her wedding day, not everyone has the magic like her and so in a very fast decision she decided to go ahead with me. Before the wedding day we tend to joke around and her family, especially her sister love Korean language very much, even her fridge was written "I love you mommy and daddy" in Korean. At the same time I was also studying Korean language and we did communicated a lot with Korean. Kok Hoo and Hye Ji wedding day not nothing fancy but filled with bunch of noisy bridesmaids who are a bunch of high school gang in Kuen Cheng Chinese Independent High School. We had a very long gate crash session and they made Kok Hoo to ride a bicycle around asking for signature, and I was the one running around chasing everyone, it was indeed a tired one but it was quite fun. And so I used a Korean song for her slideshow and written in Korean language, it was the only time that I could express something for what I have studied in my class lol.

Le Petit Studio has turned 1 year old...

Le Petit Studio 20130930R.jpg

Thanks all for your support, our small little Le Petit Studio has turned 1 year old last month. Here is a small little collage from the beginning until to date for your pleasure...  We had many ideas before creating Le Petit Studio, initially we wanted to have a rusty dark setting but personally we wanted white, a place as comfy as possible because photography is a stressful job. We made it comfy so our pictures can turn out happy, and also to maintain our happy go lucky personality. There are many good possibilities here, we just love our rainbow colors around. A sweet place for many happy creations.... have you imagine working while listening to music, and take a nap whenever required, make a fresh cup of coffee when we need it, and play some musics when we feel bored, or have a movie night, yes we made this place for that, work hard and enjoy hard.

Ajie & Pei San Wedding Day and Dinner in Suburbia Restaurant Sentosa, Singapore

Met up Ajie and Pei San over FaceTime and I remember we spoke a lot about the wedding and pre-wedding but they end up signing our wedding day package. Ajie is a cool guy from Indonesia but both of them are working in Singapore now, Ajie has a high sense of taste not only on how he dress but also on coffee, he owns a restaurant in Singapore and he is also a barista hehe, thanks to my elephant like memory I am glad I am still able to remember all these tiny bits of things that the couple told me. It was a busy day with morning gate crash, church ceremony and dinner at Suburbia restaurant in Sentosa Singapore, this is such a cool place where only this place has to offer, they had a tea ceremony in open air garden and many awesome intimate sharing session throughout the dinner, and also found out that Ajie has another talent, he has a voice that able to melt Pei San's heart. Friendly couple and one bridesmaids was also a friend of one of a nice bride that I have shot in Singapore earlier. However, with all the hard work there was this incident that I can never forget which is a comment from one of the groomsman, he came to approach us before the dinner ceremony commented that we were not snapping enough, I got a little turned down at first because we really work our best, well I guess maybe because of the Singaporean habit of being dictative, sometimes we can never avoid it, I should have told him to try enjoy the wedding as much, just leave the good works from us and trust the photographer, our shooting styles are hand picked by the couple instead from the groomsman. It took me a few to overcome that feeling and after some refreshments we became the ninja's again, and my fellow assistant shooter was so nice to capture that tired look of mine at the end of the wedding dinner LOL. Thats one of the life of being a photographer after 16 hours of work.

Choon Wae & Irina Wedding Day in Sheraton Imperial Kuala Lumpur

Its an awesome morning where Choon Wae and Irina is had their red hot Chinese traditional tea ceremony dressing in red all the way. Irina is originated from Indonesia so she had not many relatives here for the tea ceremony but she did look very happy that day, both of them are very lovely and Choon Wae's side was very happening and emotional where his mom cried during the tea ceremony. Love the casual and simple style during the day, nothing very hectic where everyone are able to enjoy the cozy afternoon and lots of smiles and tears, after this special day both Choon Wae and Irina will be flying back to Melbourne, I can felt that his mom will miss him a lot.

Love is the answer - Nathan & Betty Pre-Wedding in Bali

Finally our last assignment in Bali, been spending more than a week in Bali, the last assignment is always the most exciting and tiring, everyday we have to wake up around 3am for the make up and finishes at sunset due to the long travelling distance, we finishes off our session with Nathan and Betty in a new found land hehe, this place is simply awesome. When I first met up with Nathan and Betty, Nathan was the one who always does the talking and Betty was the one who only tells Nathan what she wanted and let Nathan does all the talking. I always admire the result of the chemistry of both person, making every couple a different one. Both of them live in Miri and had also engage us to cover their wedding in Miri. Thanks for giving me all the trust for this session, both of them just thrilled with the scenes have to offer here. I remember our session in Potatoe head where we not allowed to take any pictures in this premises, I shot most of the casual session with my GX1 micro four third camera and they were no problem with it, eventually it did turned our pretty well for the album, thanks to photoshop. I did went to the same place for the sunset session after a few months but this place has been closed for renovation now. Love it so much.

Give it all to you - Chin Wuu & Rachel Pre-Wedding in Bali

Both Chin Wuu and Rachel are working in Singapore and Rachel originated from China. I can see that Chin Wuu love Rachel very much though she is one of the demanding bride hehe. The different things I did on this session, unlike usually I would engage a beloved session for the couple but I believe Rachel had a different expectations on the pictures which is something similar to my early styles with elegant poses, something expresses the inner soul of Rachel, making her like an angel of Chin Wuu so that Chin Wuu would give everything to her, thats the theme is all about. Rachel might look fierce and demanding from the outside but inside of her is very emotional with many sentimental feelings, maybe because the story she written to us was in mandarin so everything is filled with emotions, in mandarin we call it "small little lady".

More than Friends - Kevin & Samantha Pre-Wedding in Bali

Tired of all the serious pictures? Here are a batch of unusual ones we did with Kevin & Samantha. Everyone is unique, when Kevin asked if he can do a shot to show him jumping off the cliff, I laughed but we forgo the idea in the end. So much for funny ideas. So I took them to an unusual place in Bali market for some shots with all the local people, to metaphore Kevin doing his house chores where Samantha is in control of everything, not every couple willing to have fun in a session like that, it takes courage because in the end it is the pictures that will go into the album, love all the funny ones we did here so I show some that relates to it, in the end with Kevin smoking beside Samantha and having a good time. Well in the end they did not select the smoking ones into the album hehe, yea it is fine for their own collection.

For our memory - Choong Yi & Pei Shan Pre-Wedding in Bali

Here we go, our first couple on this trip to Bali, Indonesia, we met up in our studio for a short discussion and decided to head to this few places that I'm familiar with, of course Choong Yi also have asked what will be the place I most wanted to shoot and I answer Lovina Bay which is far up north with all the penguins and looking at the destination they gave up haha, yea I am still looking forward to go there some day but we ended up in places like the water blow and kintamani volcano, this time the water blow isn't blowing so we took some landscape shots with the lava rocks, did a little of beloved session with them. I still remember there was one nice shot we took in Kintamani with a fly on the veil which we strive to remove it lol, photoshop does the trick. Both of them are really tall, they are one of the tallest couple I have shot so far hehe, with all the natural candids, I remember Choong Yi was concern about his slight baldness which I let photoshop does the trick, boom and its gone lol. Talking about baldness, Bali is one of the hottest place and one of the toughest place for me, simply because I have to start avoiding the sun to stop my hair from falling lol, and every angle gotta be standing in some dangerous spot, therefore overtime I am here I am injured in some ways, not sure where I am going to be injured this time. hmmm..... for this day, I am fine.

Four Points by Sheraton Sandakan Wedding Fair

four points by sheraton sandakan wedding fair dennis yap photography asia top 30 photographer.jpg

Thanks to Kris from That Special Occasion and the team, we were invited to join this wedding fair. When we hear about the place Sandakan, it does raise a lot of questions, the first question would be, why Sandakan, LOL. Flew all the way to Sandakan just to open a few hours of wedding fair is indeed something we had never done before. But the main reason we join is because we love this place. The people are just great. From a couple of previous weddings we had assigned in Sandakan before, we had lots of good memories here. One of the thing we love is the very old St. Micheal Church in Sandakan, the church was simply amazing. And another thing we love is the English Tea House and Restaurant up on the hill of Sandakan city, a beautiful british colonial architecture which is very good for a wedding reception. So in turn, Sandakan is filled with potential for many nice memories and awesome pictures. Lets pray for more to come in Sandakan! ^_^
