Before the Departure - Brian & Cindy Wedding Dinner

One day my album supplier Edward asked if I am available on this day and I got engaged by his friends to cover Brian & Cindy's wedding dinner in Kuala Lumpur. As the assignment was a little short noticed so I did not spent a lot of time understanding the couple before hand so what I do is just understand them on the spot. We did not meet each other before hand but slowly I understand that the wedding is also a dinner before the departure. Cindy got engaged with a Brian who is a Hong Konger and the whole wedding was done very similar like the HKer way hehe. Mostly everyone speak like a HKer. One of the sessions I liked about the wedding was the sharing session from the audience whereby each person can actually write down their blessings on their pre-wedding photo and the ones who got the best blessings will receive an award lol. It was quite fun actually and the crowd had been entertained. Cindy was quite cheerful and Brian looked a little reserved, thought the wedding dinner was meant to satisfy the parents but surely not stop me from snapping some nice candids. Hope they love those pictures and able for Cindy to recall those happy moments she left behind in Malaysia. Thanks to Edward for your introduction.

Our Journey Within - Heng Seong & Hui Yan Pre-Wedding

Heng Seong & Hui Yan had a very long journey in thier relationship, where Hui Yan being the PHD lady and Heng Seong as an engineer, both person summitted to another dimension of understanding. While Hui Yan spoke to me about she wanted something simple and nice, which is in fact most people wanted in our list, we said ok and they had their pre-wedding session done in half day. With just a short simple 2 hours, numerous pictures were snapped due to their authentic nature. Hui Yan told me that she wanted most pictures that able to show her face lol, so most of the shots were done in a way that it purely an expression of emotions. With this unique couple and in order to produce the most genuine effect, we went through a Beloved session which allow them to explore their minds further, recalling those important things that had occured. I can't believed that I have done this kind of session for more than a year already and everytime it given different results. Just love the sunset session at the last very few minutes. Thanks to Hui Yan and Heng Seong, you guys just shown me something that inspires me. One day I received an SMS from Hui Yan, she told me that a lot of their friends had some good comment about the pictures. Another unique session done in Tanjung Sepat, it worth the sunny weather. :)

Often times a love journey are not only physical but more towards mental. A journey of love can also reflected as a journey traveling and admiring the opposite minds.... when the world has it limits, just close your eyes with a hug, and it all became beautiful. ^^

Amour et Passion also means Love and Passion in english translation. A theme created for Johny & Jessie as a next stage of relationship after their couple portrait session we did in Perak. Thanks to Johny and Jessie who made me ventured my first trip to Paris and Venice. Actually if you ask me which city I prefer, my answer is Venice. The overall expereince was great, filled with romance and joy. It was quite a long stay in Europe, we spent almost a week here. The experience for this trip is unique in terms of handling the transportation lol but it was all fine, the shots is done. Before Jessie had engaged me she told me that she does not need a lot of shots, just essential shots will be sufficient so the trip was a little relaxed as we broken down the session into half each day and the shot went on for 3 days. However we did spent a lot of time shooting and exploring. Many thanks to Chantel Ng for the make up, the make up was done pretty alright and can't forget the last few days we spent exploring in Paris LOL.

What made this trip so unforgetable was not about the shoot, its about a friendship. While I was doing the shoot in De Lourve I met a an old friend Adam Ong LOL, we both were too busy meeting each other in Kuala Lumpur and suddenly I heard him calling my name, we both gave each other a big hug and we did spent some good time chatting. Due to the hectic traffic in Paris I missed my return flight and had to wait 2 days to get the next flight back, so I text Adam and said I have a good and bad news LOL. Good news is we get to meet again, and bad news is I might need to stay at his place LOL. So its like coffee break again and again over time, quite an enjoying moment. So nothing much, thats about it, my trip in Paris, flew almost half the earth to meet an old friend...

The Unification - Kar Yang & Jane Wedding Day in Sandakan

The wedding of Kar Yang & Jane was an intensive one, it went on for 2 full wedding day assignment with church, garden, tea ceremony, dinner and portraiture. Met up this couple before the wedding in Midvalley and had a very nice Korean lunch together lol. Jane is a lover of God and while she engaged me together with Kevin Tan as second shooter she said she felt more comfortable when we said that we are christians. The more I understand Jane, I can see that she has a longing desperation for God. I believe that her journey with God can be even more fulfilling after marriage.

Her wedding was held in beautiful St Micheal Church, one of the oldest church in East Malaysia. The whole build up of the church made me recall those days when I was in Scotland, very nice indeed. The inner part of the church has this very nice reflection off from the colorful glasses shined towards the wall, creating an amazing rainbow effect. I wish that the inner lightings were done better like hiding of electrocal wires or using a more vintage lights, having those modern technology inside the church just made it look difficult hmm... right after the Church ceremony we headed to the british tea house up the hill top in Sandakan, it was an awesome location for many Sandakanians with nice setups and relaxing ambient, Jane & Kar Yang had their cake cutting ceremony there and we released a number of baloons there. And right after that we headed down a little and finished off with the portrait session in the Church, and thats just for the first day event. The second day it was a pure traditional gate crashing and tea ceremony and followed with a big wedding dinner event. Right after the wedding dinner was a dance session, after the wedding dinner we all were like finished a long 2 days of battle LOL. It was nice to bumped up with D-capture Studio that day, we all had a lot of fun together even we all did not have a proper meal and refreshments that night, but the supper session was great hehe...

I still remember the homestay that Jane had put us together with D-capture studio, it was super budget, the most funny part of the room was that 2 rooms were partitioned with a wooden wall and the air conditioned was fitted right just the middle of it LOL, so we all shared the same air LOL... for 3 days the problem we all faced were afraid that our gears got stolen. That was a bad idea to put us in the homestay, at least we should stay in a safer environment.

Love Equation - Daniel & Jessica Pre-Wedding in Singapore

Both Daniel and Jessica were brough up in a highly educated background where Jessica's father is the professor in one of the university in Singapore. When Jessica spoke to me that her wedding will include many high educated people from the faculty, I immediately told her that her Pre-Wedding portrait will be a little unique compared to the rest, which is something intuitive and intellectual. Of course I have to make sure I do the math right. I believe the above equation will provide a different impact from how the group of audience perceive Love in a scientifical manner.

For many years people have been studying the meaning of love, which made me recall of a movie called "Contact", where the guy in the movie had asked someone who doesn't believe in God to provide how she love her father. Yes, love is indeed unable to be proven, but it can be reflected and reminded, in many forms. The above mathetical equation is something simple yet interesting. Yes, men love integration, something I have learned from my Math teacher in college, and women loves differentiation. This is the term that used in calculus lol. Men combines and Women derives. Where as these 2 unique individuals empowering each other in the above art form (Daniel^Jessica, and Jessica^Daniel), which is a metaphore of life empowers each other, giving each other the fullest emotional support, and love will only being resulted only with both combines. And often times, love is always the first emotion we felt with each other. And overtime, With love empowers with each other, it turns to something greater, Life. Yes, Life in this equation is greater than love itself, because life is a combination of numerous encounters and experiences together.

And the final statement in the slide presentation I made something which seemed to solved the most essential problems of humanity. Which is the mathematical proof of how Foreverness relates with love. And not only life requires love, when each person willing to sacrifice for the person they love, giving in of many things, sacrificing, which turn to the equation where Daniel has to be divided by Jessica, and multiply by Jessica divided by Daniel. If you understand how to do the math, the final answer of (Daniel / Jessica)x(Jessica / Daniel) is 1. And the number "1" is the true number, a prime number that is undivided, which signifies the meaning of foreverness. 2 person had became 1.

Thanks to Daniel and Jessica who gave me this chance to show my math skill LOL... I believe that both PHD grads like both of you, will truly able to appreciate what I created for both for you, and your friends and family. :)

Me and Jessica had so many encounters over time, she has been a holder of "the longest email correspondance" list. LOL. We almost did the Pre-Wedding shot in Bali but Jessica called me while I was in Bali that she had dengue feaver and unable to make it for the trip. And so we did our session in Singapore instead. After many months, still missing this lovely couple. They had been really nice~ I mean, really really nice to me. LOL. And what I have to offer is that love equation LOL. :p

Wedding Playground - Remus & Jess Wedding Dinner

Remember Dylan & Jennifer, Jess is her good friend and they just happened to got my service. My first impression for Jess was she is a fierce, but slowly over the event I noticed that she has this intriguing personality, and it might be the reason that both Remus and Jess clicked together. I was listening to what Remus has to say in his speach because he made it quite humourous, and Remus mentioned that Jess has been a good advisor for him, and right at the moment I said yes~ I think she has this unique personality that willing to give good advice for his man. Remus is the owner of a very unique business, he does car stickers for racecars, if you keen to find out, the name is called Motorsport Playground. The moment I looked inside their facebook I saw many hot stuffs, and also interesting cars. It is a good hobby that turned into a business. And Remus will never be shy to show his true self infront of the crowd. The wedding had became their own playground. Its nice to know both of you and hope to see you again someday.

One day my friend Kevin Tan contacted me that one of his best friends would like to do a pre-wedding shot so he introduced Sean and Cindy to me. The first time I met up with Sean & Cindy, they told me that they were upset about the outcome of their Bridal album and wanted to redo the album again by me. So since they already did a pre-wedding shot I suggested them to do a half day shot instead. Something that able to recall the love of both of them. The first time I visited Cindy's place, her house was gigantically big LOL, behind her house is a golf course. Cindy wanted to have the shot taken in the gold course area so I said why not.

It was a nice and sunny weather that day, without much heat and close to sunset. We did the shot about 2 hours and I was quite satisfied with the outcome. Cindy is a perfectionist who wanted things to be perfect and worked out according to her own way, but in turn I suggested to her that instead of shooting a series that how she wanted others to perceived, why not we do a shot that how you wanted to perceive yourself. She was confused what I was saying at first but I think the result will do the trick. :) When I perceived Cindy's room, it was like a princess shire, she even have her own pantry in her room hehe, the furnitures were very princess like. The more I found out about Cindy is that she is actually a lady with strong character. Everything she does in every minute matters along the way because every step she makes will be part of her own history. I in my mind I had a long thought about what Cindy is missing in her life so that I can shoot something to filled the gap in her heart. Having said that I understood that a girl with such personality is easy to get defensive if I just tell in words, so I use pictures to reflect it, recalling the essential part of a relationship. Enhancing everybit of it, so that both personalities can dwell even deeper over time, that's why the theme of this session is called "Love Invigorate", yes it is for invigorating purpose.

The shot is trying to bring balance between two character, with a strong character like Cindy, only Sean is able to tame her hehe, he is the only guy in the world that able to control her, and Cindy is able to use her soft character infront of him. This is something that I observed over time. Someone had told me one thing in the past, for every strong lady, whenever she fell in love she will just able to summit to her love ones. This is one great example. However, I can also see the hardship in Sean's eye trying to be the man in the house. So love invigorate is also for the family to perceive, value those relationship between them and as long there is love, any miracle is possible. :) Thank you Sean and Cindy for trusting my work, it will take sometime to loving those pictures, remember to flip through those images every year~ hehe....

Please help me take a vote to help the world a better place.

Since 2009 Dennis Yap Photography* has been aiming to contribute 5% of his total revenue to support social awareness. In the year of 2011 I hope the funds can be contribute to a more effective play ground supported by the fans and clients of Dennis Yap Photography*. As a photographer I always felt that we should play a part in supporting social awareness, without nice sceneries and beautiful sky, or without heritage archtectures being preserved, there will not be any nice and intriguing pictures that spoke about the history of humanity. Please help me place your vote. Thank you.

Unite by God - Saravanan & Shamini Indian Wedding Recemony

The first time I met Shamini was during her mom's surprised birthday party, she was so nice to engage me for her wedding reception. Beautiful Shamini, people claimed that she was too slim for being a wife hmm... When Shamini trying to engage me she asked if I have shot an Indian wedding, my answer was yes, but its in the Aircraft, flying in the air LOL. She laughed and after briefed me a little which I think its not too bad afterall. The problem for me to cover Indian wedding is, it is a SUPER tired assignment LOL, too many things happening and I have to capture everything in detail and etc etc etc. When I shoot Shamini's wedding it made feel that I was back in India, which is a month back. If you have read what was my encounters in India you would know what I am saying here hehe.... Loving the colors, actually I love to cover Indian weddings, people are super funny, emotional and compasionate. Their hugs is simply awesom, I got a bunch of those that day, which is something that Shamini likes me to do.

The Indian community is super funny, I remember when I was trying to organize a group shot, someone said to me that I will never be able to get everyone to calm down, and I was like "Hahaha....". Okay, and so I ask them to kiss, and they were saying "No No No..." and everyone laughed, and there goes the snap snap snap.... and there goes the end of the hectic August month.
